Hi Guys! The Wick family finally went on vacation! WOOT! A family trip to PA to surprise my Mom for her 60th birthday (with great success I might add) was in the works for months. And with a family va-cay on the horizon, the Hubs and I began pondering the idea of leaving the nugget with my folks and take our own mini getaway? I mean, why not? We have spent years dreaming of a trip to New England and we wanted to finally make it happen. After long debate, we landed on Providence, Rhode Island. It was a mere 6 hour drive from my hometown, it was in New England, and it was affordable, so, it was a no brainer. And we can officially state, it was the BEST destination spot for us!

For starters, the Dean Hotel needs to be at the top of your list of places to stay when in Providence. The beautifully curated rooms, Bolt Coffee in the lobby, the Boombox Karoake Lounge, Linus bikes for rent and the German Inspired restaurant,  Faust round out the boutique hotel.

Faust Restaurant offered everything from Bavarian Pretzels to Dinner Plates of Schnitzel. We would often find ourselves partaking in adult beverages before we headed out on the town. Look how cute this place is (and the hubby)?

OK, so as much as we wanted to stay in our hotel the whole time, we forced ourselves to head out on the town. We borrowed the Linus Bikes and headed out for a ride and here is what we stumbled upon.

Look how beautiful Providence is? And its home to Brown University and Rhode Island School of Design, which provides a youthful vibe to the city.

We stopped at the Arcade, the Nation’s Oldest Indoor Shopping Mall.

We had our first dinner at a quaint spot called Figidini Wood Fire Eatery. This place was off the charts good!

I bought a couple of vintage goodies from the Vault Collective. I would highly recommend a visit into this shop if you are on the hunt for some cool rare gems. I walked out spending less than $30 for a dress and a top! I call that a win!

We couldn’t resist the cuteness of Cluck!. We had to stop our bikes and check out this shop. This is a small, woman-owned business serving the urban farmer. This is a must visit for any gardening enthusiast.

We did a ghost tour while in town and it was a major highlight for us. The tour was professional, educational and fun! Here is our sweet guide:

After our Ghost Tour we went to eat at Local 121. This was probably the best food we had the whole trip! We didn’t eat in the dining area, instead we opted for the bar side and found a cozy booth in the back. The food served is local, seasonal and fresh. I had the lobster ravioli and Brandon had their world famous burger. I wish we had pictures of our food, but we were  busy enjoying it way too much to even take the camera out!

Being from Portland, OR where food carts are plentiful, it was like we were at home when we saw Ogie’s Trailer Park. This place is definitely a fun spot.

We had the best getaway in Providence, Rhode Island and I could go on and on. We also visited Newport, but I think that might be best saved for another post. I hope you enjoyed coming along with us on our mini vacay. Have you been to Providence? What were your favorite spots?
