Stuff I like Saturday – Cape May, NJ

Happy weekend ya’ll! So, what do I like this Saturday? It’s the oldest beach resort town in the United States, it has a sunset ritual every night, a light house to climb, a winery, a beautiful beach, ice cream shops galore, an adorable shopping street with cobble stone, tons of Victorian Houses, farm to table restaurants and much more….it’s Cape May.

I am from the East Coast, but never had the pleasure of visiting Cape May, until this summer. And I can officially say, it rocked my world! We are already making plans to go back. If you are looking for an ideal family beach town, this is the spot!

Things to try while there:

You must eat at the Blue Pig Tavern, oh man is this ever delicious! This was the spot we went for our date night and its located in the famous Congress Hall that has other entertainment options for after dinner. I would also highly recommend the Lobster House for a seriously good, yet expensive night of seafood.

If you like wine, hit up the Willow Creek Winery for daily wine tasting! The people here are super friendly and you even get to keep your tasting glass! That’s a total win in my wine book!

You must go to Sunset Beach for the nightly Memorial Flag Service. A speech is given, music is played and the sun goes down over the ship wreckage in the water. It’s stunning and there is also some pretty yummy soft serve ice cream to cool you off during the festivities!

Hit the Washington Street Mall. This features a couple blocks of pedestrian only cobble stone shopping. The boutiques offer things from touristy souvenirs, salt water taffy and fudge to upscale clothing. Also at the mall is Uncle Charley’s ice cream shop, you must get a scoop here!

I could go on and on about Cape May, but I think you should go experience it for yourself if you can! We had an amazing family vacation and I continue to wish we were still there! What is your favorite vacation spot?
