We are busy celebrating Brandon’s Birthday today and I didn’t have much time to get things together for you. So, I decided to take the easy route, showing you all a glimpse of our winter wedding! We planned and orchestrated our wedding from across the country, which was not an easy thing. We married in Carlisle, PA in the Old Ribbon Mill on December 29, 2008 and it was the most glorious of events! It was pretty much all DIY and it came together with the help of family and friends. It was an evening filled with love and we are so blessed to have such amazing family and friends!
Since it was in the winter, we wanted to go with a green and brown, a very earthy, theme. We didn’t want to use real flowers, we chose to make paper flowers and just use lots of candles! We had our event in the evening, so twinkle lights and candles really set the mood of the loft space.
One side was for the ceremony and the other was for the Reception. We used IKEA panels to hang from the rafters as our backdrop for the alter. We lined the aisle with paper bags attached with doilies to light the way. Our programs came from a template we found on the web and we also created a Brandon and Summer crossword puzzle to add to the DIY pockets we created. We hung IKEA fabric as a backdrop for our polaroid photo station for when people first walked in to the room. We asked people to then place their photo in the book we had on the table and write a few words.
We hung paper lanterns from the rafters and wrapped the beams with white lights. On the tables we printed out Table Numbers and showcased seating arrangements in pine cones. We chose wild flower seeds in a recycled paper envelope as our wedding favor to continue in our earthy theme.
Some more candid shots of Brandon and I:
Our wedding was simple, yet elegant. Family and friends basked in the evening of love and our wedding was done without all the fuss! This event was perfectly imperfect, and I loved every minute of it!
